Walk through almost any dairy, beverage or meat plant and you will see stainless steel in tanks, pipes, fittings and work surfaces. There are good reasons for that.
It resists corrosion
Food products, cleaning chemicals and moisture are hard on ordinary metals. Stainless steel resists corrosion, so surfaces stay smooth and clean for years.
It is easy to clean
A smooth, non-porous surface does not hold residue or bacteria the way rough or coated surfaces can. That makes cleaning, including CIP, reliable.
It does not affect the product
Food-grade stainless steel does not react with food, so taste and quality are protected. Grades such as 304 and 316 are widely used, with 316 chosen where more corrosion resistance is needed.
Choosing the right supply
Pipes, fittings and sections need to match the design and the duty. See our steel and steel alloy and metal alloy supply, or ask for help with material selection through our contact page.
